Discover Bordeaux through food! Start with a guided stroll through the lively Saint-Michel neighborhood, then explore Marché des Capucins, selecting fresh, seasonal ingredients for your meal. Back in our kitchen, enjoy a hands-on cooking class culminating in a five-course seasonal bistro meal, paired with local wines.

The Canelé: Bake Bordeaux’s Iconic Pastry

Price: 96€ per person (16€ tax included) | Private option starting at 510€ (85€ tax included) for the first 4 people

Duration: 2–2.5 hours | Saturdays from 4 - 6 pm, from April thru September. | Private canelé classes are also available by appointment, generally from 4- 6:30 pm.

Discover the beloved Canelé in this hands-on class devoted to the pastry synonymous with Bordeaux. Learn to achieve its signature texture: a deeply caramelized, crisp exterior and a soft, custardy interior.

Together, we guide you through the essential stages of preparing the Canelé. While they bake, we turn to a regional specialty: the Gâteau Basque. This tender, buttery cake is filled with your choice of pastry cream or jam and each participant prepares and decorates an individual Gâteau Basque.

The class concludes with a tasting of both pastries and a beverage, and you may take home the Gâteau Basque you have prepared or enjoy it at the atelier.

    Build confidence in making your own doughs at home while exploring the differences between classic French tart dough (pâte brisée) and traditional American flaky pie dough. Taste and compare both as you learn practical, hands-on techniques you can easily reproduce in your own kitchen.
